The time it takes to find shoes for a customer to try on has been smashed by Sports Direct employee Kyle Kennedy.
The previous record of 48 minutes was set by Darren 'Daz' Smith, unsurprisingly also a Sports Direct worker, who managed to have a lunch break and a sneaky fag round the back of the bins before bringing out a pair of trainers to an irate customer.
However, Smith's record was shattered by Kyle Kennedy of Kirkcaldy. Kennedy managed to keep a customer waiting for a staggering 56 minutes.
Kennedy, who had already clocked a personal best of 45 minutes this year, was delighted with the achievement, despite the fact he had no idea he had broken the record as he forgot the customer was there in the first place.
When asked to comment on how it feels to be a world record holder he stated, "Aye, pretty good, likes."
David Sampson, the customer who was the receiving end of Kennedy's record time, explained his part.
"I spent ten minutes chasing employees around the shop trying to get one of them to help me, but they just kept disappearing round corners and into staff only areas.
"It was like that bit in 'Rocky 2' where he has to catch a chicken.
"I finally cornered one of them between a rack of Donnay sports socks and a display of Slazenger Tshirts. And I asked to try on a pair of Nike Air Monarchs - size 10 - and then he vanished.
"I complained six times to a hungover looking manager, who kept tutting, "He'll only be a minute."
"The boy then returned almost an hour later with Reebok Pumps, asking if a size 4 or a 13 would be any good.
"It was an act of incompetence so staggering that I just started laughing and left the shop."
Kennedy has since retired from retail with some commentators saying that he wanted to leave at the top of his game.
However, others have claimed that he wants to spend more time smoking dope.
